Message from communityinfo@bascf.org <communityinfo@bascf.org>

Folks,
We are planning our largest No Bel Air Wal-Mart Rally to date!
Many folks have said they need more advance notice.  We are happy to accommodate.  Please mark you calendars.
WAL-MART RALLY AT CONSTANT FRIENDSHIP WAL-MART, SATURDAY, APRIL 6th, 11:00 to 2:00.
As a community we tend to believe that no news is good news.  There have been no recent Wal-Mart mailers, phone calls or advertisements in the paper.  Out of sight, out of mind.  But as the community rests, Wal-Mart continues to remove obstacles from their path and move closer to ground breaking.
What can be done to stop their advance?
Walmart Protest at Emmorton and PlumtreeSHOW OVERWHELMING OPPOSITION AT THIS RALLY!
In doing so we will show the county government, the news media, the community and particularly WAL-MART that just like at the CIM last July, we are still adamantly opposedto a BEL AIR Wal-Mart!  That renovating and expanding the Constant Friendship store is the right solution.
WE CAN WIN THIS FIGHT!  Other communities that chose to fight have won.  All it takes is an hour or two of your time.
We will be sending this notice out via the communityinfo@bascf.orgnobelairwalmart@yahoo.com and SignupGenious e-mail addresses to minimize the possibility that all e-mails are going to your spam folder.  If this e-mail is being delivered to you on multiple occasions, that is good.  It is getting through.
GOOD NEWS!
County Councilman Capt’n Jim McMahan (Dist “C”) is introducing legislation that will place restrictions on the size of box stores on B3 Zoned land.  The legislation provides that “General merchandise and shoppers merchandise structures 75,000 square feet and over shall be developed in accordance with para 267-79 [integrated community shopping center(ICSC)]and shall be subject to board approval in accordance with para 267-68B (Board approval of design standards for special developments). “Although this change will not affect the current piece of B3 property at MD 924 and Plum Tree Road, it will preclude such outlandish development in the future at other sights” said Mr. McMahan.
If you are interested in supporting this legislation a public hearing will be held on April 16th, 7:00 PM at212 S. Bond St, Bel Air.
